A small mountain of moves in the technical media

Keeping up with media moves in technical PR is real monkey businessAs some of you may have picked up from the PS on yesterday’s e-mail, I’ve been on paternity recently, which explains why you haven’t been receiving these Blog updates each day. However, while I’ve been away from your inbox there has been a mountain of changes in the technical media, which are summarised below.

The built environment
Hamerville Magazines has launched Greenbuild magazine, with the first issue to be published January/February 2011. Meanwhile Ocean Media's Build It magazine has appointed Sophie Hoyland as assistant editor.

Electronics
United Business Media (UBM), owner of media outlets including EE Times, has announced that it is buying Canon Communications, the owner of EDN and a number of medical titles.

Energy and electrical industry
Windpower Monthly magazine has seen Nadia Weekes take on the role of Editor, replacing Ben Walker. Nadia’s previous title, ENDS Europe Daily, a newsletter covering news and analysis on EU and European environmental policy and legislation, has yet to name a replacement.

Revo Media has launched Lux magazine, a monthly publication aimed at the architectural lighting sector. The magazine, which is edited by former Lighting magazine editor Ray Molony, will cover lighting technology, applications and projects.

Emap has purchased Water, Energy & Environment along with associated annual guides Energy Efficient Solutions, Water Efficient Solutions and Energy Procurement and The Energy Event. Editor, Tim MacManan-Smith, has moved along with the titles.

Manufacturing, engineering and plant management
Monthly magazine Works Management has appointed Max Gosney as Editor.

Suzanne Gill has teken over as editor of IML Group's Control Engineering Europe.

Laurence Radford has replaced Editorial Researcher Rachel Bridgewater at UK Power and Process Engineering.

Medical
Progressive Digital Media has appointed Elly Earls as editor of Medical Imaging Technologies, Medical Device Developments, Practical Patient Care and World Pharmaceutical Frontiers.

As mentioned above, UBM has purchased Canon Communications LLC and its associated titles European Medical Device Manufacturer, Medical Device & Diagnostics Industry, Medical Products Manufacturing News, Medical Device Technology and European Medical Device Technology.

Plastics
Plastics and Rubber Asia publisher Tim Ornellas has stepped down from his role at the PRA title.

Phew, I’ve never announced so many media moves! I think I will have to go on paternity leave more often if I come back to this sort of excitement every time!
